EDIFACT Standards

The following steps are only required if you want to use EDIFACT. If not, you can directly got to After the Installation

We do not ship the EDIFACT documentation with Anveo EDI Connect. But we provide a program that allows you to download the required version of the EDIFACT standard and convert it to a file format that can be imported with Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2017. This is mainly due to the licensing terms of the EDIFACT standards, but also because each standard will require some storage space in the database.

Before you can start to create mappings, you need to import the basic EDIFACT / X12 data, which is independent of the various EDIFACT versions.
To import the basic data, go to the EDIFACT / X12 menu:

Departments -> Administration -> Application Setup -> Anveo EDI -> EDIFACT X12

There are three different pages available:

  • EDIFACT/X12 Identifier - (Identifier)
    • Information about the names and data types of the elements
  • EDIFACT/X12 Identifier Matrix - (Matrix)
    • Information on how the element can be used (allowed combinations)
  • EDIFACT/X12 Code List Value - (Code List)
    • Information about possible values of the single elements

The installation package of Anveo EDI Connect contains a folder with the name InstallationData. Please install the three files from that folder by opening the corresponding page and click on the action “Import…”.

To be able to use a specific EDIFACT standard you have to start the program “ImportEdifactAssistant.exe” from the directory Edifact_Downloader. Click on Next. Please select the desired UNECE standard (like D96A) from the first list and click on Download.

Step 1: Select the version and click on Download

The program will ask you to select a directory and put the filename of the downloaded file into the next text box. (If you already have the ZIP-File you can directly select it and do not have to download it each time).

The next step is to select a target directory for the three files that will be generated. Afterwards click on the button Next.

Step 2: Select the target directory and click on Next

In case we find license terms we will show them to you. If not, please make sure to check the license terms on the UNECE website. The tool will convert the data from the ZIP file to data that can be imported into Anveo EDI Connect.

Afterwards, please go back into Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2017 and import the newly generated files by using the three pages, like described above.

You can import as many standards, as you want to at the same time. If you import a standard that is already in the system, the module will override all existing records, but does not delete any additional records.
